Greetings, Mark --

BLUF: I am ready to buy my next MacBook Pro but seeking your expert opinion on the 16GB vs. 32GB unified memory decision.

-----

BACKGROUND: As a decidedly non-technical guy, I truly appreciate your help as I struggle to decide how I should spec my next MacBook. Thank you!

I need to pull the trigger and order my new machine soon because my early 2015 MacBook Pro is seemingly in its final days.

The biggest issue seems to be that I don't have enough RAM with the 8GB Intel processor and things just bog down to a slow crawl, even while doing tasks that shouldn't be creating so much drag. I do NOT do video editing or anything like that, so at most I may have 8 or 10 tabs going on my browser (usually Chrome) while working in MS Word or some other simple program.

Anyway, after consuming your content about the new machines, I think the base model of the 14 Inch MacBook Pro is more than sufficient.

However, I still wonder if I should spring a few extra bucks (I'm over here in the colonies) to upgrade to 32GB of unified memory or stick with the 16GB. My biggest concern is that I don't want to grow out of that memory in just five or six years as I've apparently done with my current machine and if can avoid that trap by spending a bit more -- the few hundred dollars is not an issue, but I still like to handle our money wisely.

Do you have any words of wisdom for me? Should I stick with 16 or invest in 32?

Thank you so much for sharing your time and expertise.

Onward...

Guy
