I've been an Evernote fan and advocate for about 15 years—always paying for upgraded services—but the app has become more buggy and less trustworthy over the last couple of years.
I considered leaving a year or so ago, but chose to stay because of the hassle involved in moving thousands of notes to another app was worse than the $70 it cost to keep my files there. Evernote forced my hand, though, with their decision to nearly double the cost to $130.
The company is trying to justify the new price by adding new gadgets, but none of those gadgets add any value to me and they still haven't even fixed the reliability and performance issues they've already had for years with both the Mac app and online version.
So, I'm dropping my Evernote account and moving into Apple Notes, which so far seems much more reliable and as a bonus is free.
I can buy a lot of tacos with that $130 that Evernote is trying to squeeze out of me.
Best wishes, everybody!
