Tom —

My experience with MacBooks and the stuff I used to buy before MBP is the same.

I owned HP, Compaq, and Dell machines (I really liked Dell for awhile), but they all crapped out on me after just a couple years of use. And we’re talking use in indoor spaces without any abuse.

My wife and I made the move to Apple MacBook Pros over five years ago and we have never regretted the ruggedness or reliability of our laptops. These machines just keep going and going and going despite being used daily during air, train, auto, and ship travel around the world as well as aboard the boat we live on and work from.

Salt air, sunshine, and high humidity have apparently had no negative effects on our MBPs.

We were so happy with our MBPs that we scrapped our mobile phones and tablets in favor of iPhones and iPads, and they’ve treated us the same as our MacBook Pros.

I guess we’re Apple people now.
